About the role and team 

Working in Science at Uber means solving complex problems in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment. You'll turn massive amounts of unstructured data into focused plans of execution, navigating ambiguity to build technologies that directly influence every decision made in our marketplace. This isn't just about building models; it's about making smart decisions with imperfect information and owning the outcomes in an environment where speed and scale can't be separated.

In this role, you'll be the bridge between technical depth and business impact, solving messy, high-priority problems that don't always have a textbook solution. You'll thrive here if you possess an owner's mindset, stay calm under pressure, and have the grit to drive projects through their entire lifecycle from idea inception to production. We're looking for someone who thinks critically and moves with urgency to shape the future of how people and things move in the real world.

Rate of Pay:                 $181,475 to $224,175 per Year

What you'll do 
  • Design, execute, and analyze large-scale experiments within the Uber Eats and Uber Rides apps. 
  • Perform analytical deep dives to explore topics including conversion funnels, shopping journeys, personalization & ranking, and user retention. 
  • Design frameworks for optimizing tradeoffs across competing business objectives to maximize platform growth. 
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, and other cross-functional partners to understand user behavior and guide future product strategy. 
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior technical and business leaders.
  • May telecommute. 
Basic Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Position requires 3 years of experience in: 
    • Experimental design and statistical analysis for A/B testing;
    • Causal inference and quasi experiment;
      SQL and data modeling;
    • Python/R for exploratory data analysis;
    • Funnel optimization and user segmentation, with experience extracting user behavior insights from large datasets;
    • Data visualization and dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib);
    • Machine learning model development;
    • Designing and implementing scalable data processing workflows using Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) or Hadoop.
