Job description

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona's first fab will operate its leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America's leading technology companies are ready to rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the digital future.

As a Corporate ESH Engineer, you will demonstrate a strong sense of reliability, enthusiasm, and possess an attitude that embodies our core values - Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Customer Trust.

The Corporate Safety Engineer will focus on the overall safety strategy for TSMC Arizona.  The Corporate ESH Engineer will develop safety and environmental standards, work with management to implements ESH directive, ensure that safety policies and procedures align with Federal and State regulations. 

Essential Functions:

  • Point of Contact for all safety related issues and regulatory compliance.
  • Manager the contractor safety program for TSMC Arizona Facilities
  • Work with Construction team on safety related issues and concerns. 
  • Corporate ESH primary point of contact for both the ISEP for Safety/Industrial Hygiene issues and concerns.
  • Responsible for reviewing new/updated regulations that may impact TSMC Arizona related to Emergency Preparedness, Chemical Management and Facility Safety.
  • Review and approved Contractor Safety plans and work procedures.
  • Work with facilities, Material Management and warehouse safety training and oversight. 
  • Provide technical, regulatory and process guidance to address emerging ESH issues
  • Evaluate new TSMC AZ machinery, and inspect waste management status
  • Point of contact for all Management of Change issues.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental or a closely related field.
    • At least 5+ years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for a Health and Safety professional in an industrial/manufacturing setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of RCRA,  wastewater compliance, OSHA, DOT, Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health and other relevant safety regulations. 
    • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey safety procedures and expectations.
    • Problem-Solving: Skilled in conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and proactive problem-solving to minimize risks.
    • Adaptability: Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adjust strategies based on changing regulations and operational needs.
    • Organizational Skills: Manages multiple projects and safety programs, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
    • Compliance: Proficient in tracking and reporting safety metrics, including leading and lagging indicators.

Interpersonal Skills:

    • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey safety procedures and expectations.
    • Computer proficiency
    • Presentation skills
    • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
    • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills through effective collaboration and supporting a positive and respectful team environment.

Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer at least 50% of the time.
    • This role frequently moves throughout the facility and between departments as part of daily operational tasks.
    • This role transports or moves items weighing up to 20-25 pounds.
  • Training:
    • Ability to travel to Taiwan for training for up to 1 month (if applicable).
