Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Learning and Development Craft Instructor I delivers established craft learning programs that build safe, high-quality, and productive field performance. This role facilitates classroom, jobsite, and virtual learning using approved curricula, adult learning best practices, and established templates and processes. They ensure sessions are well-organized, inclusive, and focused on foundational skill transfer while supporting session logistics, learner communications, LMS administration, and post-session quality checks. The role partners closely with Self-Perform leaders, Operations, Safety, subject matter experts, and Learning & Development to ensure training is accessible, compliant, and well-executed across regional needs.


RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Deliver established craft courses and learning experiences across classroom, jobsite, and virtual settings using approved materials and adult learning practices.
•    Prepare and coordinate session logistics, including rooms or virtual setup, materials, tools, basic A/V, pre-work, reminders, and follow-up communications.
•    Facilitate learning in a way that is clear, inclusive, practical, and relevant to field application for craft partners at different skill levels.
•    Apply established templates, objectives, and materials with light customization to fit the audience and session context.
•    Partner with Self-Perform leaders, subject matter experts, and Learning & Development partners to support delivery readiness and learner success.
•    Coordinate calendars and training schedules with Operations and Safety to minimize disruption to work and ensure learner access and readiness.
•    Administer learning activities in SuccessFactors LMS, including class setup, rosters, attendance, completions, evaluations, and routine learner communications, while maintaining data accuracy.
•    Capture learner feedback, attendance, and basic knowledge-check or assessment results; compile simple summaries and share observations with program owners.
•    Maintain training materials, guides, checklists, job aids, and related learning assets so they remain current, organized, and easy to access.
•    Support required safety-led content and external credential coordination, such as OSHA or NCCER components, where applicable.
•    Provide reinforcement and basic coaching to help learners understand and apply the technical skills being taught.
•    Track routine issues, scheduling conflicts, or delivery risks and escalate promptly to maintain a consistent learner experience.
•    Support Train-the-Trainer sessions or facilitator readiness efforts as assigned.
•    Build and maintain effective working relationships with regional Learning & Development leaders, craft leaders, Safety partners, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Education, Learning & Development, or a related field, or equivalent combination of craft, field, and training experience.
•    3+ years of experience in construction, self-perform operations, workforce development, or technical training.
•    Experience delivering hands-on, classroom, and/or field-based learning for adult learners.
•    Working knowledge of construction methods, equipment, jobsite safety expectations, and field operations.
•    Experience using an LMS, preferably SuccessFactors, to manage classes, rosters, completions, and training records.
•    Ability to coordinate training logistics across multiple audiences, locations, and schedules.
•    Ability to capture and summarize basic training data, learner feedback, and session outcomes.
•    Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in practical, field-relevant ways.
•    Strong organization, follow-through, and time-management skills.
•    Ability to travel 50–75 percent based on regional training needs.
•    OSHA 30-Hour and/or other relevant craft, safety, or industry credentials preferred.
•    Bilingual capability is a plus where regional workforce needs require it.
