The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Manager. We currently have one vacancy within our Public Works Department in the Design division. This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list to be used for any future vacancies City-wide over the next 12-month period.


Salary and Benefits Information
$149,526 - $181,758 annually

The City of Vacaville is seeking an experienced and collaborative Engineering Manager to lead the Capital Improvement Program Design Division. This is an opportunity to guide the planning, design, environmental clearance, funding, and delivery of complex and highly visible public infrastructure projects serving a growing community.

The Engineering Manager will lead a talented team of engineers and technical professionals, manage consultant teams, coordinate with Caltrans and regional and regulatory agencies, and help shape the City’s future capital program. The division’s work encompasses transportation, water, sewer, storm drainage, detention, utility, and other subsurface infrastructure projects.

Current and upcoming work includes the I-505/Vaca Valley Parkway Multimodal Improvement Project, featuring three new roundabouts and a separated bicycle and pedestrian bridge across I-505; improvements to the Rancho Lagunitas Basin; future expansion of the City’s bicycle and pedestrian trail network, including planned improvements along Ulatis Creek; and roadway, drainage, utility, and active transportation infrastructure supporting continued residential and economic development.

The City recently completed Jepson Parkway Phase II, an award-recognized multimodal transportation project funded with more than $23 million in state and federal grants. The successful candidate will build upon this record of project delivery while advancing the City’s next generation of infrastructure investments.

The most competitive candidates will possess experience delivering complex transportation, water, sewer, storm drainage, utility, or other municipal capital projects. A strong transportation background, including experience with the Caltrans Local Assistance Procedures Manual and federally funded projects, would be highly desirable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related field.

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional civil engineering within public works design or construction, including two years of supervisory responsibility.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California. Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
