Job description

Join us as a Mechanical System Engineer in the Train Design department, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in St-Bruno (QC), Canada.


You will:

  • Translate customer requirements/needs into appropriate solutions by providing system engineering expertise across all stages of the project’s lifecycle as an instrumental part of multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Provide technical input, including design and system integration and support, in order to facilitate the completion of projects within time and budget and maintain customer satisfaction;
  • Analyze technical issues and work closely with suppliers to develop and integrate solutions/changes in a timely manner.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • System failures analysis, troubleshooting and solution development and integration in coordination with other engineering disciplines and suppliers;
  • System requirement analysis, clarification, interpretation and alignment with other engineering disciplines and suppliers to establish a common technical view;
  • Prepare operational and train-wide system concepts based on the captured system and derived requirements;
  • Support relevant train-level technical documentation;
  • Review system ICDs and align communication issues with other interfacing systems;
  • Review relevant verification and validation plans to ensure requirements adherence;
  • Prepare/review/support system relevant verification and validation activities (e.g. test procedures preparation, test conduct support, FAI witnessing, train homologation support, etc.);
  • Support managing and documentation of system configurations;
  • Support transition into production.

As our ideal candidate you have:

  • A BSc/MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject;
  • 10+ years minimum practical experience with system life-cycle activities;
  • Experience/expertise in the design and integration of railway systems, or similar transportation domain
  • Experience in system failures analysis, troubleshooting and solution integration;
  • Knowledge of Rational DOORS, an asset
  • Knowledge of Office suite softwares
  • Member OIQ, an asset
  • Occasional travels in Canada and outside of Canada
  • Bilingual French & English. Knowledge of a language other than French is an asset when dealing with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues and customers. In Quebec, French remains the main working language of our company.
