Could you be the full-time onsite EHS Engineer in West Mifflin, PA, US (Pittsburgh area) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your Environmental Health and Safety expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated and collaborative teammates.

As an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer you will work to provide a safe and healthy environment to our people and to our contractors during construction sites and projects. Your work will help to minimize the impacts on the environment including reducing our overall environmental operational footprint and managing historical pollution. You will also work to protect Alstom assets and reduce risks of business interruption resulting from fire and natural catastrophes. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (construction, operations, and compliance), deliver impactful EHS training programs, and ensure adherence to Alstom and international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Supporting the Site EHS Manager to perform EHS Risk Assessment and to define appropriate measures to control risks
  • Preparing, implementing and maintaining emergency plans
  • Delivering support and advice to site personnel to prevent injury, damage to plant and equipment, fire, environmental pollution
  • Responding to violations to regulations and Alstom Standards
  • Developing, deploying, and maintaining local procedures and tools and make sure they are aligned with Alstom Standards and international standards (ISO 14001 and ISO45001)
  • Ensuring that Alstom EHS standards and tools (Alstom Zero Deviation Plan (AZDP), Transport Operational Performance in Environment (TOPE), Transport Key processes) are deployed at Site level
  • Performing EHS legal compliance checks for specific requirements
  • Coaching employees to carry out the work in safe & environment-friendly mode
  • Leading site EHS training programs by providing EHS inductions and ensuring Toolbox meetings are organized
  • Capturing, reporting, recording, investigating and analyzing accidents/incidents in order to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Preparing monthly EHS reports
  • Carry out inspections of work areas and carry out EHS audits and report any discrepancy

  • Bachelors Degree is required (Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering is preferred),
  • At least 2 years of professional experience related to Environmental Health and Safety,
  • Experience in conducting EHS audits and inspections,
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health and Safety Certification,
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ISO14001 and ISO45001,
  • Knowledge of local legal EHS requirements,
  • Manufacturing, Construction, Rail or Transportation experience.
