This role supports complete vehicle durability testing for ATVs and side-by-side vehicles in a research and development environment. You will assemble, test, maintain, and tear down powersports vehicles while working closely with engineering teams to ensure safety, performance, and reliability. This is a long-term opportunity for a hands-on technician who enjoys powersports, problem-solving, and working in a structured test environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle testing in accordance with defined test procedures, requirements, and engineering guidelines.
  • Assemble complete vehicles using engineering drawings, service manuals, and direct communication with engineering staff.
  • Conduct vehicle maintenance and safety checks before, during, and after testing to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Monitor vehicles closely during testing, paying careful attention to detail to identify concerns and problems as they arise.
  • Document and communicate test findings, issues, and concerns to project leaders with a high level of detail and clear explanation of the situation or problem.
  • Perform vehicle tear-downs for part confirmation, inspection, and sub-component evaluations after testing.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and systems issues on ATVs, side-by-sides, and other powersports vehicles during the test process.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering and test team members to execute test plans and resolve technical issues.
  • Follow defined instructions and test procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Ask clarifying questions when test conditions, procedures, or requirements are unclear to ensure accurate execution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the shop and test areas.
  • Support on-site testing at designated test tracks and test sites, including potential travel to remote locations.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience as an automotive technician, ATV technician, or powersports technician.
  • Experience working with ATVs, side-by-sides, four-wheelers, motorcycles, or similar powersports vehicles.
  • Ability to perform vehicle assembly using engineering drawings and service manuals.
  • Experience performing maintenance, safety checks, and basic repairs on powersports vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed test procedures and instructions accurately.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying, diagnosing, and resolving mechanical or systems issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering staff and project leaders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comfort working in a team environment and collaborating with engineering and test personnel.
  • Ability to identify concerns and issues during testing and clearly articulate them to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to test sites, including during winter months, as required.
  • Comfort asking questions and seeking clarification when faced with uncertainty in test procedures or requirements.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple test activities or responsibilities concurrently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience as an ATV technician or in a similar powersports technician role.
  • Experience with powersports vehicle testing in an engineering or R&D environment.
  • Hands-on experience riding and repairing ATVs, side-by-sides, or dirt bikes.
  • Background as an engineering technician supporting vehicle or component testing.
  • Familiarity with durability testing and validation of vehicles or mechanical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation and reporting.
  • Interest in powersports and enthusiasm for working directly with ATV and side-by-side vehicles.
Work Environment

You will work in a research and development testing environment focused on powersports vehicles such as ATVs and side-by-sides. The role is primarily on-site at a first-class test track facility and associated shop areas, where you will perform hands-on assembly, testing, maintenance, and tear-down of vehicles. The position may involve test riding ATVs and side-by-sides across a variety of test types and conditions, including durability and performance evaluations. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with an expectation that workspaces remain clean and orderly. The role may require extended travel to off-site test locations, particularly during winter months, to support seasonal testing activities.
