Mid-Level or Senior Production Systems Safety Engineer

The Boeing Defense Air Dominance Division Systems Safety & Mission Assurance organization is looking for a Mid-Level (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) Production Systems Safety Engineer to join our F-15 Fighter programs in Berkeley or Hazelwood, MO. We are hiring to support our growing portfolio of domestic and international customers.

As a Production Systems Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware/software design to identify all potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards to ensure product safety and customer mission success.

Work scope includes safety hazard analysis across production, modification and operational phases of our fighter jets. Senior members will also participate in investigations of in-service fleet safety issues including in-flight emergencies, mishaps and near misses.

We are looking for experienced individuals in aircraft maintenance and production operations. Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in both hardware and software.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Participate in research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported production aircraft hazards, risks, and safety concerns such as Supplier Notice of Escapement (NOEs), Non-Conformance Report (NCR), Line stock checks and aircraft incident/damage report
  • Supports identifying safety and mission assurance issues systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices
  • Contributes by documenting safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards
  • Supports creating and maintaining safety and corrective action plans

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • The ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience in USAF / US Military Maintenance
  • Experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.
  • Full-time aerospace industry experience with Flight Controls, Flight Controls software, or Mechanical/Hydraulic Systems
  • Experience working with Quality and/or Safety Corrective Action/Preventative Action, Root Cause Corrective Actions
  • Experience with Military standards such as MIL-STD-1388-2B, S1000D, GEIA-STD-0007, MIL-PRF-5041
