Job description

Job Summary:
The System Safety Engineer is a key role within the engineering team, focused on the safe and efficient development of our products for US Military This role requires an experienced engineer with a background in the execution of System Safety on military vehicles and other programs.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform the system safety tasks as define in MIL-STD-882E
  • Identify safety design issues and work with design engineers to obtain a satisfactory accommodation.
  • Prepare the System Safety Program Plans
  • Lead the effort to execute the tasks in the System Safety Program Plan
  • Identify the safety critical software requirements as part of the system safety program plan

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
  • Knowledge in Systems Engineering and related Standards/Processes
  • Ability to present technical briefings to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the ground vehicle requirements
  • Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development a plus
  • Practical 'hands on' attitude with the ability to operate independently
  • Currently holds or has the ability to obtain SECRET US Defense clearance desired
  • Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and regulations desired

Education:
  • BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive) desired.
  • MSc Engineering desired (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Computer, Management)

Experience:
  • 10 years minimum experience in the application of safety design criteria on military systems
  • Experience authoring safety related Government documents as define above.
  • Direct experience conducting a System Software Safety Program IAW Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH) Implementation Guide.
  • Direct experience establishing and managing an ESOH program in accordance with MIL-STD-882E
  • Direct experience conducting Subsystem Hazard Analysis IAW MIL-STD-882E Task 204, System Hazard Analysis IAW MIL-STD-882E Task 205, Health Hazard Analysis MIL-STD-882E Task 207, Functional Hazard Analysis IAW MIL-STD-882E Task 208, and Environmental Hazard Analysis IAW MIL-STD-882E Task 210
  • Direct experience preparing a Safety Assessment Report in accordance with MIL-STD-882E task 301.

Background Prerequisites:
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
