Job description

Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc. is a leader in civil construction, offering a range of services including earthworks, grading, underground utility installation, landscape development, and environmental enhancements. We pride ourselves on delivering complex projects with precision and professionalism.

We are seeking a Paving Stone / Block Wall Foreman to join our team. This position will complete work in the Edmonton area. All job sites are located in various locations throughout greater Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.

Wilco is a leader in delivering complex projects to its clients. Position is 10-12 hours per day, Monday through Saturday, and performs some or all of the following:

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise paving stone and block wall crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily crew activities, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Read and interpret project drawings, site plans, grades, and specifications.
  • Prepare and grade installation areas to ensure a solid, long-lasting base for paving stone and retaining wall projects.
  • Install paving stones, retaining walls, garden walls, steps, and related hardscape features according to project specifications and design layouts.
  • Ensure precise alignment, spacing, grading, and elevation of paving stones and wall systems to achieve a professional finished product.
  • Oversee excavation, compaction, and placement of aggregate base materials, sand, and concrete as required.
  • Operate and oversee the safe operation of skid steers, compactors, plate tampers, saws, and other landscape construction equipment.
  • Monitor workmanship and conduct quality inspections throughout the project to ensure company standards are met.
  • Train, mentor, and support crew members in installation techniques, safety practices, and jobsite expectations.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and ensure all crew members follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve site challenges, grade issues, and installation conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite, including debris removal and hazard identification.
  • Complete daily reports, time tracking, and other project documentation as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure adherence to company policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience installing paving stones, retaining walls, or landscape construction projects.
  • Previous crew leadership or foreman experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of grading, compaction, drainage, and hardscape installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, grades, and construction drawings.
  • Experience operating landscape construction equipment is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work..
  • Strong communication skills. The ability to understand verbal safety instructions in English is required for this role.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, bringing a positive "Safety First Attitude" every day.
  • CSTS 2020 is an employment requirement (May be provided)
  • CSA approved steel toed boots & Mobile Smart Phone is an employment requirement.
