Waterproofing jobs are available in commercial and residential construction industries. As a waterproofer, you apply caulking, sealants, and coatings to roofing and structural joints to prevent water from getting through. Your responsibilities include determining the appropriate materials and processes to repair and waterproof a roof, ensuring clean and proper application of caulking and other compounds, and following company guidelines to complete each task. Job duties involve climbing up and down ladders, navigating difficult terrain while at high elevation, and working in all weather conditions to meet deadlines.

You can get a waterproofing job with a high school diploma or GED certificate and construction, roofing, or other relevant work experience. Experience in bricklaying, concrete finishing, or similar trades is helpful and often the minimum qualifications for getting a waterproofing job. Physical strength and stamina, including the ability to lift 50 pounds and climb up and down a ladder, are required skills for waterproofing jobs. You need basic math, reading, and writing skills to understand, interpret, and apply material instructions and company safety policies. Manual dexterity and the ability to work in difficult and varying conditions are also essential.
