What Is an UI UX Developer and How to Become One

By ZipRecruiter Marketplace Research Team

What Is a UI UX Developer?

A UX designer concentrates on the end product and the user’s interaction with it to determine the proper approach to take in the design process. They often work directly with users, seeking input on what works best for their needs. A UI developer, on the other hand, does the actual design using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. Their goal is to create a graphic user interface that is intuitive for a better experience. A UI/UX developer works on both parts of a project.

How to Become a UI UX Developer?

Depending on the job, the qualifications for becoming a UI or UX developer include an associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field. You’ll also need to learn the primary coding languages. Most UI/UX developers work with imaging editing software programs, so having proficiency in these is helpful. The successful developer stays current with the technology and updates in the industry throughout their career. Excellent organizational and communication skills are important for duties such as presenting projects to prospective clients and working as part of a team.
