You may also coordinate with other developers and IT support staff to ensure the program and applications are running correctly.
How to Become an RPG Developer
To become an RPG developer, you typically need a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Employers prefer candidates with a background in RPG environments. You must have experience with software development, understand programming languages, and be familiar with SQL. Other requirements may include strong ILE, CL, and DB2/400 development skills and prior experience in a similar role. You also need to stay current on technology updates within the industry. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical thinking and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
