What Does a Remote Visual Designer Do?
The job duties of a remote visual designer focus on creating graphic design content for an employer or client. As a remote visual designer, you work from home to create unique visuals that meet the needs of your employer, so your responsibilities vary from project to project. You usually work within specific guidelines, but some clients include you in the planning and concept development process. You often work on branding projects where you create visuals, color schemes, typography, static and animated web ads, and logos. In this career, you may also have a specialty, such as illustration or typography.
How to Become a Remote Visual Designer
The qualifications that you need to become a remote visual designer include a relevant degree or comparable work experience and a portfolio that showcases your visual design skills. You can choose to pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or illustration to become more proficient. However, employers expect to see a portfolio of your past work regardless of your educational achievements. Having keen attention to detail, such as being able to differentiate between various fonts and colors, is essential. In addition to artistic and creative skills, remote visual designers need knowledge of and access to graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, and a reliable internet connection.
