Promo Model

What Does a Promo Model Do?

As a promo model, your job is to engage in promotional activities for a product, service, or brand, usually through direct interaction with a potential customer. Promo models often work at in-store demonstrations and events or through social media to reach as many potential customers as possible. These jobs can be one-time, part-time, or full-time positions depending on the needs and marketing strategies of each company. Many promo models speak in front of crowds, demonstrate how to use products, answer questions, and otherwise represent a company as much as possible. Promo modeling is usually direct advertising where customers know who you work for, as opposed to influencer marketing where the advertising is indirect.

How to Become a Promo Model

The primary qualifications for becoming a promo model depend on the position, but they often include a high school diploma and some experience in a promotional position. Several years of experience is usually good enough, though companies may also have other requirements like age, appearance, or the ability to stand for extended periods. Some promo models work nights, weekends, or holidays as necessary, so flexibility with your schedule is also helpful for this role. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of a promo model requires enthusiasm, creativity, communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to memorize detailed information about different products quickly.
