As a part-time tutor, your primary responsibilities are to help students improve their understanding of class material, help with homework, and work to develop positive study habits. Your duties may have you work with a group of students or provide private tutor sessions for one-on-one assistance. A tutor can work with students of any age and may address several subjects or only focus on one. You may travel to the student's home, offer services from a tutoring center, or tutor virtually through an online platform. You may be asked to provide reports and communicate with parents on the student's progress.

There are no formal educational requirements to become a part-time tutor, but you should be able to demonstrate your skills in the subjects you instruct. Most tutors earn a college degree in their specialization, but you do not necessarily need to have finished the program.
