By ZipRecruiter Marketplace Research Team

What Does an Oracle SOA Developer Do?

As an Oracle SOA developer, you design, develop, implement, and integrate a service-oriented architecture application based on the Oracle e-business suite. In this role, you may test and troubleshoot existing software, discuss software needs with employees at all levels of the company, help integrate non-Oracle software databases, and perform other tasks as necessary. Many of the details of this job depend on the company you work for, so you may end up working on multiple projects simultaneously, giving feedback to other developers, or alerting users to the status of your overall project development. Like most programming roles, this job may sometimes require using something other than Oracle software.

How to Become an Oracle SOA Developer

The primary qualifications for becoming an Oracle SOA developer are a bachelor's degree in a relevant area and at least five years of experience with Oracle systems. Many companies have long, detailed lists of programming skills and experience they look for, but in most cases, they are willing to be flexible about these as long as you can learn anything you need to know soon after you start your job. Additional industry licenses and certifications are especially helpful for standing out from other applicants, so consider obtaining these when possible. Fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of an Oracle SOA developer requires research skills, familiarity with SOA procedures, communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
