An inventory associate is an individual that is responsible for maintaining the proper product inventory for a given organization. As an inventory specialist, your duties include making sure that items are ordered and properly delivered, ensuring that shelves are well stocked with sufficient quantities of specific products, and keeping these items readily available in the warehouse or storage room. You must maintain accurate data records and supply inventory reports to management. You will find inventory associates working in retail locations as well as warehouses. You must have excellent organizational and counting skills for this career.

There are no formal education requirements to become an inventory associate, though most have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Warehouses and companies often do inventory at unusual hours, so you need to have a flexible schedule and the ability to work a variety of shifts. Some inventory associates work exclusively for a single company, while others work as contractors and travel to different stores to audit their inventories. If travel is required, you need to have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Some experience with computers is also helpful, especially if employers want you to write reports after completing each count. Additional qualifications include excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Summary

We are seeking an Inventory Associate to oversee the inventory for our retail store. In this position, you will primarily work in our warehouse and loading dock, making sure we receive the right amount of each product. You must also ensure the products make it to the right department or stay in the appropriate area of the warehouse. You must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work overnight. While we are willing to train the right candidate, we prefer that you have prior warehouse experience.
