Your responsibilities include monitoring budgets, planning strategies to reach organizational goals, and supervising employee performance in warehousing, manufacturing, purchasing, and other related departments. Your duties have you evaluating the quality of goods and services produced and ensuring that they meet client expectations. At the entry-level, you may work under the guidance of a senior manager and build up to working independently.
How to Become an Entry-Level Operations Manager
To become an entry-level operations manager you need a bachelor's degree in business, management, marketing, or a related area. Employers prefer candidates with prior leadership or management experience, but at the entry-level, it is not mandatory. You must be aware of changes in government regulations and stay current on marketplace trends related to your good and services. Additional qualifications include familiarity with OSHA regulations, the ability to motivate others, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to address performance and production problems quickly.
