As an automation test engineer, your duties are to design and develop automated strategies used to identify bugs and other issues with software before commercial launch. Your responsibilities include creating scripts and test cases that automatically assess whether or not the product works according to specification. You work closely with software developers and other computer engineers to ensure that the software is stable and report to the development team when you find issues with the programs.

How to Become an Automation Test Engineer

To become an automation test engineer, you need to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related subject. In addition to your educational qualifications, you should be familiar with numerous testing programs, such as Selenium, which is designed to help you create automated testing and software engineering tools and execute tests quickly. You should also be familiar with coding languages, such as Java and Python. Important skills for the job include attention to detail, verbal and written communication, and analytical problem-solving.
