Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable

SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable is a vital member of the Finance Team and focuses on accounts payable. The position will collaborate cross-functionally with other teams and employees at USA for UNHCR, particularly budget managers, bill approvers, travelers, and credit card holders. In addition, the position will perform a variety of clerical accounting tasks in support of the accounting function.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Managing accounts payable workflow using Bill.com, Intacct, and other programs
•Review all accounts, payables invoices, and expense reports for accuracy in coding, cost centers, signature approvals, and appropriate backup documentation
•Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
•Validate and process all requests for vendor changes, including changes to address, vendor names, and 1099 status
•Participate in the month-end closing process by analyzing and reconciling certain general ledger accounts
•Prepare journal entries to record some disbursements such as payroll, HSA, and FSA.
•Prepares various accounting documents, schedules, exhibits, and summaries in support of the department and USA for UNHCR
•Examines assigned accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations and uniform application of policies, procedures, and acceptable accounting standards
•Takes action to solve problems/issues that routinely arise in areas of assigned responsibility
•Works closely with other Finance Team members providing opportunities for skills enhancement
•Serve as backup, as needed, to accounts receivable by cross-training on recording of donations into Intacct, including checks, credit card, EFT, wire transfers, and gift-in-kind

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience; each year of work experience may be substituted for each year of education required

WORK LOCATION
Hybrid + Washington, DC + May also involve travel to some locations within the company's region of operations and select donor locations.
COMPENSATION
$69,230-$86,547
