As a Fire Protection Plumbing Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Running and maintaining facilities systems with a focus on mechanical Fire Protection systems (working knowledge of PIVs, Risers, Fire Pumps, and Fire Protection equipment)
- Working alongside engineering teams for optimal operation and within regulatory compliance.
- Reading and understanding mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic prints to assist in troubleshooting and repair.
- Following corporate, plant and department procedures related to work and safety to avoid personal injury, injury to co-workers, and/or damage to property.
- Testing of fire sprinkler systems including but not limited to wet, dry, and foam systems per NFPA Standards.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Possess an associate degree in either a Mechanical field, Fire Technology, or closely related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR a Certificate in Fire Protection (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution OR Three (3+) years of work experience in maintenance, Fire Protection, facilities in lieu of a degree in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience in a Manufacturing setting.
- Scissor/manlift and/or PIV trained.
- Experience with Fire Protection control systems.
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
