The new SCA Health represents who we are today and where we are going-and the growing career opportunities for YOU. Responsibilities A. Job Knowledge Assures prompt, efficient processing of Billing and Coding within the facility.

Responsible for accurate coding of CPT and ICD-9 codes for each procedure done in the facility. Completes all billing procedures for each patient. Prints all insurance claims on correct forms (UBs or HCFAs).

Verifies information on insurance claim form is complete and sends. Responsible for data entry on all payments and adjustments. Processes end of day reports daily.

Responsible for completing all other procedures in time for Month-end. Maintains filling system for AP. Performs job tasks in an accurate, thorough, timely manner according to procedures.

Enters supplies used, codes procedures, and bills charges within 48 hours of date of service. Prints and electronically sends or mails insurance claims within 4 working days. Performs daily back-up procedures.

Enters payments and adjustments within 48 hours of receipt. Meets corporate deadlines for all procedures coded and billed at month end. B.

Pulling the Wagon Utilizes time effectively. Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards. Adheres to established departmental safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Demonstrates the competent usage of proper body mechanics in all activities. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor. Completes all employee/patient incident documentation in a thorough and timely manner, as required by facility policy.

Demonstrates complete understanding of established emergency procedures for department and facility. Practices infection control and standard precautions as instructed or trained. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

C. Pristine Factor Attends and participates in all applicable hospital training and development workshops scheduled by the facility. Maintains work area and equipment in a pristine manner.

Has attended and put into practice the principles of Service Satisfaction. Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management. Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.

Strives to be professional, courteous, helpful and cooperative. D. Compliance Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.

E. Service Satisfaction Communicates effectively regarding all aspects of job responsibilities. All daily tasks not completed within the work shift are to be reported to appropriate personnel Respects the rights and wishes of other employees, patients, and visitors including the maintenance of a pleasant, quiet environment.

Interacts with all patient, families, visitors and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure a positive and professional hospital environment. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information as required by facility policy.

Provides input re: coding /billing issues. Completes patient charges in accordance with facility procedure. Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques.

G. Attendance Follows established facility policies and procedures with regard to attendance. Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility.

Adheres to tardiness policy. Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by supervisor. Requests scheduled time off according to procedure as noted by supervisor.

Qualifications Licenses or Certificates: Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification. Total education, vocational training and experience (minimum requirements of candidate): High School diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a healthcare facility business office is desired.

Computer, office equipment skills required. Prior Billing/Coding Experience Preferred. Medical terminology knowledge required. Licenses or Certificates: Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification.
