Role Overview

We are looking for a Backend Developer to develop, optimise, and maintain scalable backend systems. This remote role requires expertise in server-side development, database management, and API integrations, with a focus on delivering high-performance applications for users across the Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud-based environments, microservices architecture, and modern backend frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications.
  • Design, implement, and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Implement security best practices, authentication, and data encryption techniques.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver seamless integrations.
  • Optimise backend processes for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in database management (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Understanding of API security, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and data encryption.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

  • Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis Pub/Sub).
  • Knowledge of serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
