Dene North Site Services is looking for Journeyperson Automotive Technician to work in a shop environment located in Fort McMurray.  The successful candidate with be responsible for maintenance and repair on a fleet of medium/light vehicles as well as working with apprentices.

 

Dual Ticketed in Medium Duty & Automotive, Preferred (Medium Duty is a must)

 

You must be well-organized and favour safety above everything else.

 

Schedule: 7x7 - 12 hours

 

Camp accommodations & LOA are NOT provided.

 

Prefer residents local to R.M.W.B.


  • Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all light vehicles
  • Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Trouble shooting systems to determine faults and extent of repair
  • Overhauls on vehicles as required
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Develop work scopes and schedules for vehicles to be repaired
  • Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of vehicles as required
  • Assist Foreman in day to day operations
  • Fill in when foreman is away if designated lead
  • Complete reports and fill out work orders when required
  • Teach and evaluate apprentices
  • Follow Dene North's codes of practice and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction

  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Prefer Dual tickets in both Medium and Automotive (Exp. in both areas)
  • Experience in maintaing and repairing steam trucks, fuel & lube trucks - buses would be an asset
  • Must be eligible to hold a CVIP licensee
  • Must have a valid calss 5 driver's license with safe driving record
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson Automotive Technician Certificate 
  • Must provide own tools
  • Is a member of a local aboriginal first nation or metis community is considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • A creative approach to problem solving; adaptability and flexibility
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • 5 years on the job experience to complement Apprenticeship training program
  • Completion of secondary school
  • Completion Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship Program apprenticeship
  • First Aid
  • Ongoing supervisory training as required

PREVIOUS MINING EXPERIENCE PREFERED.  SELF STARTER, REQUIRING MINIMAL SUPERVISION.


All successful candidates must:

  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  4. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening
  • Criminal Record Check

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

 

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  1. CSO Certification
  2. CSTS Certification and OSSA Regional only required if candidate does not have the above certification
  3. Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  4. Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  5. VOID cheque/direct deposit form
