Job Description
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Balance business and product requirements by considering market analysis, user feedback, site metrics, and usability findings to design well purposeful content organization and simplified experiences
• Participate in user research planning and execution to identify user needs, goals, and preferences, and collect feedback to incorporate into deliverables
• Deliver concepts on paper, wireframes, or detailed prototypes to communicate solutions and test with users
• Develop design specifications and standards in the form of journeys, storyboards, site maps, wireframes, and prototypes to ensure the digital experience flows seamlessly from one step to the next and clearly communicates the information architecture and intended interaction behaviors
• Work closely with developers to ensure technical feasibility and quality of design execution, and collaborate on alternative solutions when scope or technical implementation challenges arise
• Participate as needed in QA testing, providing clear descriptions of issues and opportunities
• Work with the analytics team to determine post-launch success metrics and use the collected data to suggest improvements
• Help to create and maintain our pattern library, design system, documentation, and templates so the process gets easier as time goes on
• Work in iterative processes, including agile and lean methodologies
• Perform as a team player and help support the evolution of a growing user experience team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-10 years of work experience in information architecture and interaction design, creating digital solutions for complex web and mobile applications
• Excellent portfolio showcasing information architecture and interaction design artifacts for desktop and mobile devices; Candidate will be required to show a few projects from conception to completion, talk through their process, and the role they played in the work.
• Functional knowledge of information architecture, usability, user centered design principals and interaction design
• Able to transform requirements and ideas into deliverables including flows, site maps, wireframes, and prototypes that communicate design requirements to the project team.
• Unwavering empathy for user needs and the ability to link them to measurable solutions
• Strong communication and presentation skills, self-motivated with the ability to work with a team and independently to perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision
• Expert proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools (i.e. Sketch, Figma, Axure, Adobe XD)
• Experience with user research, usability testing and site analytics is a plus
• Strong understanding of website design methodologies (e.g. mobile first, responsive/adaptive design)
• Working knowledge of various web development languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) as they relate to design
PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Knowledge of the travel industry and experience with localization is a plus
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Interactive Design, Psychology, or other design-related field is desired
