Lead Technician - Physical Security Technology

The Lead Technician is responsible for supervising staff, and/or contractors, preforming physical installation of security systems and infrastructure.

This includes providing technical direction on site, creating schedules, managing resources, tracking progress, producing reports and liaising with stake holders.     

Technical role and responsibilities (Job Requirements)

• Work in diverse environments such as indoor/outdoor, various weather conditions and within settings from highly polished corporate offices to warehouse or manufacturing plants
• Oversee and/or assist in work on construction sites or within facilities that are occupied for business and interact with a variety of personalities and backgrounds
• Supervise and direct staff and sub-contractors in the successful execution of project installations and commissioning
• Manage installation teams on a wide range of security related products from locks to readers, panels, cameras, gates, vehicle barriers, security systems and IT networks
• Understand and be able to provide low level direction on the installation and setup of electronic security hardware, systems, and basic security software
• Understand the use of both heavy construction tools to precise technical instruments, as well as means and methods in the installation of security systems and components
• Understand construction methodology and standard practices, also understand and be able to use common project management tools, platforms, and applications
• Create team assignments and project schedules
• Track all job-related on-site activities, time, and material expenditures
• Take meeting notes and document work progress events as required
• Create summary reports and supply up to date information to Managers
• Communicate with teams and clients, update team leads, managers or clients on the status of all work performed daily
• Work as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, clients, co-workers, and sub-contractors
• Ensure clean and safe work areas and ensure teams are provided with tools and equipment to perform all work
• Develop new skills and knowledge as it applies to client's systems or new services offered by the company and specific job role
• Attend & pass assigned certifications & training
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Minimal Requirements), Must:

• Be working or have recently worked in the field as a filed technician and have a minimum of 7 years experience
• Have excellent problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail
• Have excellent leadership and organizational skills
• Proficient with math with ability to manage budgets and project costs
• Be proficient in communication, motivational and interpersonal skills
• Be able to develop a courteous & professional relationship with clients, co-workers, and sub-contractors (must be a team player)
• Must be highly self-motivated and be able to work independently without prompting
• Must be able to work in high pressure environments with shortened timelines
• Is able to read blueprints, schematic drawings, job specification and scopes
• Advanced knowledge of common administrative and project management tools, fluent in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience in directing staff and managing small jobs as primary/lead tech
• Working knowledge and skills with common construction tools, practices, and techniques
• Ability to work standard construction hours as well as occasional overtime and/or weekends with varying workloads and deadlines
• Must have valid OSHA 30-hour, SST 10-hour and Supervisor SST (OSHA 62) certification cards
• Have Technical degree or certification
• Be able to pass background check
• Have valid US driver’s license

• Hourly Rate between $34 - $45 per hour depending on qualifications
