Job description

Job Title: Mainframe System Programmer
Work Location: New York, NY
Duration: 24 Months Contract
Position Summary:
Interview Mode: Phone, Skype and Face to Face
Hours: 35 hrs per week
· The consultant will serve as a Mainframe z/OS DB2 Systems Programmer, responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and serviceability of the DB2 subsystem. This role includes providing advanced technical support and guidance for the installation, upgrade, diagnosis, and performance tuning ofDB2 and related OEM products.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Supporting and maintaining DB2 subsystems in a z/OS environment.
· Performing DB2 software installs, upgrades, and maintenance.
· Diagnosing and resolving complex DB2 and related product issues.
· Tuning DB2 for optimal performance and resource utilization.
· Providing technical leadership and documentation for DB2 best practices.
· Utilizing a strong knowledge ofSMP/E and its role in the installation process.
· Conducting ongoing maintenance (installing, patching, upgrading, administering, etc.) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, systems software products (e.g., database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
· The candidate is required to provide Production off-hour coverage and support periodic weekend implementations.
Experience / Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in DB2 Database system recovery.
· Working knowledge ofDB2.
· Must have experience with VT AM and TCP/IP.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.), program product installations, working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system, and Unix System Services.
· Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, and AFP printing is a plus .
· Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
· Working with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementation.
· Excellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
· The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer Consultant.
Education:
· Bachelor's degree or 10 + years of experience in relevant technical field is required.
