Job Title: Database Admin
Job Location: Austin, TX
Job Type: Contract
Experience/Skills:
Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; may substitute full-time information technology, database administration, computer system design and analysis, computer programming, or closely related experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Seven years of full-time information technology, database administration, computer system design, and analysis, or closely related experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer databases, programming, and systems design; computer operations, systems, and procedures
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer databases, programming, and systems design; computer operations, systems, and procedures
  • Solid understanding of database design principals.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with PostgreSQL (Opensource), IBM DB2 and Scripting languages above.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with Erwin data modeling tool.
  • Solid understanding of query execution plans.
  • Good SQL scripts skill including SPs, PSQL scripting. T-SQL is an advantage.
  • Good performance tuning skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and practices, including planning, testing, backup/restore
  • Experience in PostgreSQL (Opensource) replication setup and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience on database administration, Replication, 'backup and recovery' and troubleshooting.
