The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technician/Photographer contributes to the organization by performing diagnostic tests as ordered by an Ophthalmologist. The Diagnostic Technician works with the Diagnostics team to provide services to a wide arrange of patients and their Physicians.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of principles, practices/procedures of Ophthalmic Technology
• Knowledge of medical ophthalmic terminology.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in OCT & VF'S required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred to perform injections of Fluorescein contrast dye for retinal imaging on multiple cameras.
• Retinal Research experience preferred & GCP certification preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of technical procedures that require knowledge and good patient care, to include:

  1. Advanced Fundus Photography for Study Certification
  2. Fluorescein Angiography
  3. Venipuncture
  4. Slit Lamp Photography
  5. Immersion A-Scans
  6. B-Scan examination
  7. Advanced IOL Calculations
  8. PDT Injections/Assist Doctor with Laser:
    • Assumes responsibility with team for the overall cleanliness of diagnostic rooms
    • Advises Director of any problems with equipment
    • Complies with HIPPA regulations
    • Responsible for continuing education and professional development
    • All other duties as assigned
