ABOUT THE GOLDENER HIRSCH:

Nestled snugly in the heart of Deer Valley in Utah's Wasatch Mountains, the Goldener Hirsch Inn and Residences is just steps from the Silver Lake Express lift and ski access. The Inn features just 18 rooms, and the Residences showcases 49 newly renovated rooms, allowing us to offer you the ultimate in intimate, personalized service alongside five-star amenities--including European king beds, plush robes and slippers, and an acclaimed restaurant consistently attracting rave reviews.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
To serve the needs of the business, our guests and our colleagues by prompt and courteous service delivery to all guests, as a Hospitality Ambassador for the hotel. All members of the Food & Beverage Department are responsible for ensuring that visitors to the hotel are delighted by the quality, creativity, and variety of our food and beverage offerings.  Within that, the server is one of the most important positions for influencing guest satisfaction. It is crucial that all associates extend service in a professional, friendly, courteous, efficient and timely fashion. Takes food and beverage orders to guest rooms according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently.  Assists in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.  Assists Room Service order takers as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of guest room layout, locations and room name/numbers.

  2. Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beer and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in Room Service.

  3. Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

  4. Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.

  5. Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.

  6. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.  

  7. Maintain knowledge of POS system and manual systems.

  8. Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.

  9. Answer Room Service phone within 3 rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.

  10. Complete all opening and closing side duties as assigned.

  11. Organize assigned station and ensure readiness prior to guest arrival.

  12. Review daily specials and maintain awareness of 86’d items throughout the shift.

  13. Make all varieties of coffee.

  14. Retrieve all food orders from the kitchen and place on trays.

  15. Retrieve all beverage orders from the bar and place on trays.

  16. Occasionally transport trays and hot boxes from Room Service to guest rooms, ensuring all standards of presentation re maintained and no spillage occurs.

  17. Enter guest room and set-up trays and hot boxes.

  18. Serve food and beverage items to guests.

  19. Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.

  20. Understand and anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.

  21. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

  22. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/ activities to respond guest inquiries accurately.

  23. Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.

  24. Present check to guest for signature/payment.  

  25. Set up and deliver amenities to designated rooms.

  26. Transport all tray and hot boxes from guest’s rooms as assigned.

  27. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.

  28. Extend appreciation for guests’ patronage.

 

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Obtain cigars/cigarettes when requested by the guest.

  2. Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.

  3. Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to manager.

  4. Attend menu and wine tasting as scheduled.

  5. Give limited assistance to restaurant, bar, pool bar and valet if available.

 

Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  1. Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

  2. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding


Desirable

  1. High School diploma or equivalent, some college.
  2. Previous experience as a Room Service server or equivalent.

  3. Experience with Room Service order taking.

  4. Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service.

  5. Ability to communicate in a language other then English, preferably Spanish.

  6. Any previous culinary training.

  7. Certification in alcohol awareness program.

  8. Certification in CPR.

  9. Knowledge of computerized POS system, preferably Springer Miller.

 

SKILLS

Required

  1. Ability to anticipate and understand guest service needs.

  2. Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to guests within any given period of time.

  3. Ability to focus attention on details.

  4. Ability to maintain good coordination and timing while serving orders quickly.

  5. Ability to exert physical effort in transporting trays and hot boxes from service areas to guests.

  6. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

  7. Ability to provide legible communication.

  8. Ability to perform job function with minimal supervision.

  9. Ability to drive golf cart always adhering to the hotel’s safety standards.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.  

  2. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity. 

  3. Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.

  4. Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.

  5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

  6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.

Pay Rate: $15.00 + Tips
