About the Role

Equitable's DBA team is seeking a skilled Database Administrator.  In this role you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability of database systems critical to our operations. This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse database technologies, including DB2 for z/OS, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance and MongoDB/ATLAS.  

What You'll Be Doing

  • Administer and maintain database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Monitor database performance and execute tuning strategies to improve efficiency.

  • Design, implement, and manage database backup and recovery processes.

  • Collaborate with development and operational teams to address database-related needs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Configure and optimize databases in an Azure Infrastructure.

  • Develop and enforce database security protocols to protect sensitive data.

  • Provide technical guidance and support for database-related projects.

  • Document database configurations, procedures, and standards for future reference.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with an on-site presence of 2-3 days per week combining flexibility with team collaboration.
The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000.  Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

What You Will Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree OR 10 years of relevant experience

  • 6 years of Database Administrator experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database and SQL Managed Instance to include Oracle or DB2 for z/OS.

  • Proven experience working in Microsoft Azure with Certifications.

  • Established working experience with Service Now.

  • Demonstrated understanding of database performance tuning techniques.

  • Knowledge of backup and recovery processes for databases.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve database issues effectively.

  • Familiarity with database security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate with internal teams at all levels.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with operations and IT teams both onsite and offshore.

  • Efficient problem-solving and analytical skills.

Skills

Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of concept and principles of agile methodology; ability to apply appropriate agile approaches in the processes of software development and delivery.

Hardware Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and systems programming; ability to design, build and integrate IT hardware into multi-platforms for the organization.

Network Engineering: Knowledge of the processes, tools and technologies for network engineering; ability to utilize and manage these for planning, designing, construction and support of wireline and wireless networks.
Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.
