There has always been a small restaurant at the “Corner” in Riverside, Missouri. Enter Ed & Kathi Rule. They had never been in the restaurant business before, but they always felt they knew what good food was all about. It began on May 15, 1983, when they opened a little 40-seat cafe that served breakfast and lunch. The CORNER CAFE was born. Expansions and new buildings have been built, but we continue the traditions that started back in 1983. We strive to provide the best products, the best service, and the best value in an atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re part of the family.
Many of our from scratch recipes require preparation and long hours of slow cooking in large batches. Our prep cooks bring it all together on a daily basis for customers to enjoy.
Prep cooks do much of the preparation for the dishes that are served. This includes chopping vegetables, weighing meat, mixing ingredients, and more.
- Setting up and sanitizing work stations.
- Following prep lists created by managers.
- Measuring ingredients and seasonings, and preparing cooking ingredients.
- Preparing simple dishes, such as entrees or salads.
- Ensuring all food items are properly stored and easily accessible.
- Supervising food and cooling room temperatures.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitized kitchen.
