Position Summary

The Vice President of Home Infusion is responsible for modeling the 3 Company values of Compassion, Integrity, and Excellence, and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Vice President of Home Infusion plans, directs, and controls activities of the Infusion division to accomplish budgeted financial and patient care objectives. S/he is responsible for applying the rules and regulations of state and federal regulatory agencies and other certified agencies and is committed to "growing right."

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for facilitating the design and implementation of the delivery of pharmacy services, developing and recommending strategies to improve services and clinical outcomes, reaching established goals, maintaining satisfactory outcomes, and contributing to the business plans and financial goals of the organization.
  • Accountable for ensuring company compliance with State Boards of Pharmacy rules and regulations. Partners with other leaders to ensure the maintenance of all company required certifications and accreditations (URAC and ACHC). Acts as the thought leader and author of Briova Rx Infusion clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Acts as a thought leader for acute, chronic, and specialty home-based infusion therapies (e.g., parenteral nutrition, inotropes, anti-infectives, immunoglobulin/IgG, etc.).
  • Accountable for establishing clinically compliant best practices and programs, branch pharmacy training, and oversight of operational compliance via dashboards and branch audits as necessary.
  • Represents Compassus Infusion pharmacy operations to Ascension Health, Regulatory, Compliance, Nursing, and Reimbursement departments, as well as to external organizations, including vendors.
  • Exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge to solving complex pharmacy and business problems within established policies and practices.
  • Maintains creation and oversight of policies, procedures, and best practices related to Infusion and Specialty Pharmacy operations.
  • Develops and maintains programs for auditing and inspecting pharmacies on performance and compliance of policy, to ensure quality patient care and meet regulatory and accreditation standard requirements.
  • Collaborates with Directors of Infusion to support business needs and maintain compliant operations focused on patient care.
  • Leads regularly scheduled Clinical and Operational meetings to ensure current regulations, training, and new drug therapy information is disseminated effectively to the staff, including monitoring of all manufacturer requirements of participation in FDA REMS program, drug recall reporting, and other industry related information.
  • Develops and ensures mandatory education is provided to pharmacy staff upon hire and annually so that staff is competent in services provided
  • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the COO - HH.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree Nursing, Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience in Executive-Level Operational roles in Home Infusion preferred.
  • Proven ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel in a multi-site clinical environment.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships (i.e., clean rooms, pumps, hoods, etc.)
  • Accreditation experience; Knowledge of policies and practices to meet and maintain accreditation requirements (i.e., TJC, ACHC, URAC)
  • Five plus years of Home Infusion experience and knowledge of USP 797 standards - sterile compounding standards.
  • Demonstrated expertise or Board Certification in one or more areas of pharmacy practice.
  • Exceptional communication skills and professional presence with ability to lead and drive change on a national scale.
  • Superior team leadership and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize multiple demands and projects.
  • Sound leadership and decision-making skills to achieve results.
  • Proven ability to stimulate collaboration across functional areas with an ability to build teams, as well as consensus.
  • Proven ability to create practical solutions to address business challenges.
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and implement projects effectively across multiple entities with ultimate accountability.


Skills

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces infusion philosophy.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

  • A valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.
