ART INSTRUCTOR
RESPONSIBLE TO: Club Director
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Plan and conduct a well-rounded program in both Crafts & Fine Arts, using projects as tools to teach self-confidence, appreciation of art, creativity, coordination, and skill development.
KNOW HOW:
Must have ability to plan and conduct programs in both crafts and fine arts. Must be able to enforce Boys & Girls Clubs rules and policies. Must be able to provide age group appropriate programs. Must have infinite patience working with children.
JOB SEGMENTS:
1. Plan and conduct Classes, with written weekly plans due every Monday.
2. Plan and conduct Fine Arts Classes, allowing members to express themselves in a variety of media.
3. Promote and stimulate interest in the Arts program.
4. Requisition needed supplies.
5. Control use of materials and supplies.
6. See that Members complete projects.
7. Enforce Boys & Girls Club rules.
8. See that facilities, equipment and supplies are given proper care and maintenance.
9. Participate in staff conferences and meetings/art workshops.
10. Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the Boys & Girls Club.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting for four plus hours per day. Skills essential for successful communication include speaking and writing.
EFFECT ON END RESULT:
High attendance and interest by Members due to a varied and exciting program that meets their needs. A growth in knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding the Arts.
