SUMMARY

Arcticom, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Paramedic for Naval Special Warfare Preparatory Course Training and Support Services. The Paramedic will provide emergency medical coverage for students in the Naval Special Warfare Preparatory Course. The persons for these positions shall have daily contact with junior sailors. As such, they must adhere to the highest standards of conduct in their interaction with these sailors, the duties of the Paramedic, and provide the experienced, professional, administrative, and technical support required to achieve the desired degree of student preparation to accomplish program goals.

Starting $18.34 an hour


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide EMT coverage for all physical training evolutions.
  • Serve as a source of medical knowledge and instruction with candidates. Be prepared to discuss injury prevention, heat/ cold related injuries.
  • Be the first responder in case of emergencies at all training sites.
  • Perform any relevant EMT duty in the course of physical and aquatic training modules.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • Current registration by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT-P). May hold a State of Illinois EMT Registration in lieu of NREMT.
  • Current registration as an American Red Cross CPR/FIRST AID Instructor.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) certification.
  • Two (2) years of paramedic experience within last five (5) years.

  • Previous experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities outlined for this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • This position requires a level of physical fitness as outlined in the job requirements above to perform essential duties.
  • Paramedic shall be able to lift at least 50 lbs. overhead.
  • Paramedics shall be able to pass the minimum Navy Physical Readiness Standards, with regard to age and sex, with a minimum passing standard of SATISFACTORY MEDIUM. This testing shall be conducted within 30 calendar days from date of physical check in. Paramedics shall maintain this standard and be prepared to pass this standard on a yearly basis.
  • This position requires the ability to maneuver around and see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and contractors. Visual acuity to review written documentation and ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is subject to federal or company requirements regarding COVID-19 vaccination or regular testing.  Details to be provided by the hiring manager.  Employees are expected to comply with all current and future federal and company requirements.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This position requires working indoors, outdoors and in a pool. Must be able to maintain health in hot and cold conditions with exposure to the elements.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
