Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Senior Data Scientist should be able to work on multiple projects independently and/or collaborate with other team members. The Senior Data Scientist normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments. This position requires the individual to be very analytical, methodical and should have a passion to work with large amounts of data. This position requires the individual to make sure that the analysis and modelling they perform are free from any errors/incorrect inferences.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prioritizes, scopes and manages data science projects and the corresponding key performance indicators (KPIs) for success.

  • Helps to define and communicate governance principles.

  • Generates hypotheses about the underlying mechanics of the business process and tests hypotheses using various quantitative methods.

  • Applies statistical analysis and visualization techniques to various data, such as hierarchical clustering, T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE), and principal components analysis (PCA).

  • Applies various ML (machine learning) and advanced analytics techniques to perform classification or prediction tasks, Integrate domain knowledge into the ML solution; for example, from an understanding of financial risk, customer journey, quality prediction, sales, marketing. Testing of ML models, such as cross-validation, A/B testing, bias and fairness

  • Understands new data sources and process pipelines, and catalogs/documents them, acquires access to various databases, and other source systems such as SQL or graph databases.

  • Trains other business and IT staff on basic data science principles and techniques.

  • Networks with internal and external partners.

  • Promotes collaboration with other data science teams within the organization (if there Is a decentralized data science practice).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field.

  • Five years of experience as a Data Scientist in a reputed organization.

Salary range is $90,800 - $145,000
