C++ Engineer - High Performance Computing (HPC)

We're looking for senior C++ engineers to build and optimize the high-performance systems, data pipelines, and evaluation tooling that leading AI labs depend on — working on real production code with tangible, measurable impact. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role for engineers who know how to write fast, clean, production-grade C++ and want to do meaningful work at the frontier of AI development.

Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 20–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design, build, and optimize high-performance C++ systems supporting large-scale AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for data annotation, validation, and quality control at scale Improve reliability, performance, and safety across existing production C++ codebases Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in data and system behavior — then implement scalable, robust fixes Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on system architecture and implementation decisions Who You Are Native or fluent English speaker with clear written and verbal communication skills Full-stack developer with a strong systems programming background 5+ years of professional experience writing production C++ — preferably modern C++17 or C++20 Deep understanding of computer architecture, SIMD intrinsics, and cache coherency to optimize compute-heavy workloads Experienced with lock-free programming and maximizing parallelism using threading libraries Able to commit 20–40 hours per week consistently Nice to Have Prior experience with data annotation, data quality pipelines, or evaluation systems Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training, or benchmarking infrastructure Experience with distributed systems or developer tooling Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI infrastructure alongside leading research labs Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy with the structure of high-impact, production-grade engineering work Make a direct contribution to the systems that power next-generation AI models Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch #J-18808-Ljbffr
