At the Lilly Innovation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, we explore how next generation therapeutics, new technologies, data analytics and new care models can improve patient health and the healthcare system. Our team, the Novel Therapeutic Modalities (NTM), in Cambridge shares a real passion for challenging conventional wisdom and creating an environment that embraces creative, break-through concepts. Key responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse team of bioengineers to optimize and drive innovation in nucleic acid drug delivery platforms.
  • Serve as a member of an integrated team responsible for the discovery of nucleic acid-based therapies.
  • Communicate appropriately to other functions to enable fast implementation of drug delivery platforms for nucleic acid-based therapies.
  • Communicate to management team to enable / accelerate business decisions.
  • Engage in a highly collaborative work environment across and beyond NTM and Lilly, including external academic researchers and pre-competitive collaborations.
  • Direct and mentor less experienced scientists and engineers to deliver the portfolio and innovation projects.
  • Publish and present original research externally, author internal technical documents.

Basic Qualifications:

PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant post-PhD experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Proven expertise in nanomedicines and delivery approaches.
  • Proven experience in areas relevant to nucleic acid drug delivery including tissue-specific delivery, cellular uptake mechanisms, encapsulation and self-assembly processes, and emerging technologies
  • Prior management experience
  • Prior experience with nucleic acids
  • Capable of performing process development and optimization
  • Ability to take initiative and work without oversight
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.
