Utility Technician Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as a Utility Technician. As an integral part of our team, you work with other utility professionals to install, maintain, and repair local utilities lines and infrastructure. You ensure the safe use of all equipment, clear away broken or malfunctioning parts, and communicate with central control personnel to safely repair and replace key components. This position is occasionally physically demanding, and you must be able to stand, crouch, and lift objects up to 50 pounds throughout a normal workday. Our ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with common hand and power tools. Vocational or engineering training is strongly preferred.

Utility Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teams of utility professionals to assess damage and wear of non-functioning utility infrastructure
  • Repair and replace damaged components and lines as necessary
  • Remove old and non-functioning equipment
  • Ensure safe use of all tools and equipment

Utility Technician Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate; secondary vocational training preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills
  • Experience with common power and hand tools
  • Flexible schedule to respond to unexpected utility emergencies
  • Physical ability to stand, crouch, and lift objects throughout a standard workday
