Travel Agent Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly and reliable Travel Agent who is passionate about helping others have a stress-free experience when making travel plans. You will work with customers through phone calls and live chat platforms to discuss their destinations, transportation and lodging preferences, and if they need any recommendations on entertainment in their travel location. We work with both personal and business travel, and often promote special deals with our travel partners. Our ideal candidate has worked in the travel industry or customer service for at least one year, but we are willing to train the right person.
Travel Agent Duties and Responsibilities
- Discuss travel goals with customers, including lodging preferences and budget
- Compare complete and partial packages to find the best fit for the client
- Use travel software to book all aspects of the client’s trip, including travel insurance when necessary
- Record all transactions and provide the customer with appropriate receipts
- Handle customer complaints, travel issues, or refund requests
Travel Agent Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality, tourism, or a related field a plus
- 1+ years experience in the travel industry preferred
- Strong working knowledge of computer reservations systems, GDS systems, and e-traveling
- Current knowledge of travel trends, both domestic and international
- Significant personal travel experience a plus
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
