Tow Truck Operator Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our company as a Tow Truck Operator. As part of our roadside assistance team, you respond to calls from our central dispatch, meet with customers to refuel, repair, or tow their disabled vehicle, and provide on-the-spot customer service to otherwise distressed motorists. This position requires significant automotive knowledge and experience, and our ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills in addition to a pleasant, helpful demeanor that conveys to customers our dedication to their safety and satisfaction.

Tow Truck Operator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to customers in distress, providing refuel or jump services, or else towing their vehicle to a service center
  • Perform minor repairs or roadside services, like changing tires or headlights
  • Create records of service for customers and company accounting purposes
  • Respond to crashed vehicles and safely load them onto flatbed vehicles in cases where they cannot be safely towed

Tow Truck Operator Requirements and Qualifications

  • Automotive skills and knowledge
  • Customer service experience and skills
  • Prior experience with two trucks and roadside assistance
  • A CDL license (preferred)
  • The ability to crouch, perform automotive repairs in potentially inclement environments, and lift objects up to 50 pounds
