Tooling Engineer Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified, experienced individual to join our manufacturing company as a Tooling Engineer. As part of our team, you engage in all hands-on processes for developing and tooling parts and components. You report to the Senior Tooling Development Engineer, collaborating on larger projects and accomplishing assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner. You participate in the design of new parts and components and also assist in refining existing tooling. Our ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, professional experience within a manufacturing and design environment, and strong problem-solving and math skills.
Tooling Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and production teams to define tooling requirements and goals
- Design and tool parts and components according to blueprints and requirements
- Test tooled pieces to ensure tolerances, color, and dimensions
- Assist with the improvement and refinement of tooled pieces and tooling processes
- Work with QC, engineering, and other departments to communicate challenges and requirements
Tooling Engineer Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related technical field
- Prior experience designing and tooling parts in a manufacturing environment
- Strong math and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Proficiency with computers and standard drafting software
