Tax Preparer Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our company. You will work with clients to gather all necessary documents, complete income tax documents, file returns, and check financial statements for errors. Our ideal candidate is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), but we will also consider applicants with bookkeeping experience if you are familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You must have a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) to apply for this role.
Tax Preparer Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and file tax documents, such as income tax returns
- Check documents for errors
- Meet with clients
- Provide support to clients in the case of an IRS audit
- Perform other clerical duties as necessary
Tax Preparer Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate; bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred
- Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
- Certified Public Accountant license (preferred)
- Bookkeeping experience
- Familiarity with Quickbooks software and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Bilingual communication skills a plus
