Research Assistant Job Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to join our lab team. Under the supervision of the lead researcher, you will sterilize lab equipment, prepare the necessary tools for each experiment or study, gather samples, and document all findings. You will enter all the findings into our database and help analyze and interpret the information for presentation or publication. Our ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in a relevant field and at least two years of post-doctoral research.

Research Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment and follow guidelines to sterilize equipment properly
  • Organize, process, transport, and log all samples coming through the laboratory
  • Operate specialized machinery and equipment, complying with safety and security standards
  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures and tasks
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of all experiments performed
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Track stock and take inventory of lab materials; order new supplies and equipment when needed

Research Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

  • Doctorate in biology, chemistry, or a related field
  • 2+ years of post-doctorate research experience
  • Understanding of the workings of a lab and fundamental research principles
  • Solid working knowledge of computers and database management, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds and walk and stand for long periods of time
