Recreational Therapist Job Summary

We are looking for a new Recreational Therapist to join our clinic. In this position, you use a variety of techniques, such as dancing or swimming, to improve your clients' wellbeing, provide interventional therapy, or boost cognition. Our ideal candidate has a degree in therapeutic recreation, but we are willing to consider candidates with a background in a relevant field. We also prefer you to have a certificate from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Experience with patient care or any therapeutic discipline is also crucial. Experience in behavior analysis and treatment planning is a plus.

Recreational Therapist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review medical records
  • Assess behavior, cognition, and physical status
  • Develop a treatment plan that caters to patient issues
  • Provide instruction throughout the therapeutic activity
  • Keep track of patient progress, adjusting the program as needed

Recreational Therapist Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or a related field
  • Certificate from NCRTC (preferred)
  • Field experience in a therapeutic discipline
  • Patient care and communication skills
  • Treatment planning experience
