Product Engineer Job Summary
We are seeking a Product Engineer to assist with the development of new parts and provide our customers with technical support. In this role, you will help develop new product designs and use SOLIDWORKS to create 3D models that can be used to produce prototypes. You will then test the prototypes, making changes to improve their function and the manufacturing process, then help oversee the entire production run. You may also suggest ways to improve our business processes by evaluating existing product designs. Applicants must have a background in mechanical engineering and industry experience. Experience with Lean Six Sigma is also required, as your primary goals are to reduce variation and material waste.
Product Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with product design and development
- Develop manufacturing processes
- Use SOLIDWORKS software for 3D CAD modeling
- Test prototypes, making changes to improve function or reduce necessary materials
- Suggest ways to improve current manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure products are completed on time
- Communicate with customers to ensure their needs are being met
Product Engineer Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant field
- Industry experience preferred
- Experience with 3D solid modeling, preferably with SOLIDWORKS
- Lean Six Sigma experience
- Creativity and analytical problem-solving abilities
- Communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail
