Private Duty Nurse Job Summary

Our company is seeking a Private Duty Nurse to assist with in-home patient care. We have positions for full-time and part-time nurses, as there is currently a high demand for these services in the community. We may ask you to provide various types of medical assistance, including palliative care or rehabilitation. Common in-home care tasks include administering medications, helping with feeding or hygiene tasks, monitoring patient vitals, and changing bandages. You will also assess the physical and emotional needs of each patient, documenting significant medical changes and communicating with other health care providers as needed. Applicants must have their LVN/LPN license or RN license. While we do accept recent graduates, we prefer LVN/LPN applicants to have some prior experience providing patient care.

Private Duty Nurse Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home medical assistance to your assigned patient(s)
  • Assess the physical and emotional needs of each patient
  • Administer medications
  • Assist with feedings
  • Monitor patient vitals and take blood pressure readings
  • Assist with other total nursing care duties
  • Complete patient care documentation and other paperwork
  • Make independent clinical decisions when necessary

Private Duty Nurse Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing
  • LVN/LPN or RN license
  • Patient care experience a plus, preferred for LVN/LPNs
  • BLS certification
  • CPR certification
  • Valid driver's license
  • Interpersonal and critical thinking skills
