Porter Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, dependable porter with strong customer service skills. In this position, you will greet customers, handle their items, and arrange transportation. You may also work with transportation services to move cars, deliver items, and occasionally transport customers. Other duties may involve answering phones and guest questions, responding to maintenance requests or emergencies, or helping out other team members during busy hours.
Porter Duties and Responsibilities
Greet guests and direct them to the appropriate desk/location
Unload guest baggage from vehicles, arrange for baggage transportation, and ensure all baggage reaches final destination
Label and tag guest baggage; enter guest baggage information into computer system if needed
Assist guests with any additional items
Escort guests to their rooms; explain room functions and services to guests
Answer phone calls and man front desk; transfer calls to appropriate locations
Book travel arrangements such as taxis, private cars, or bus passes for guests
Run errands for guests and management as needed
Move and park guest and company vehicles as needed
Perform maintenance and upkeep (light cleaning duties as needed for the lobby, exterior, or other areas)
Porter Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in customer service or hospitality a plus
Valid driver's license and clean driving record; excellent driver and able to park cars in tight spaces
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40+ pounds through course of shift
Basic computer skills; experience with booking and reservation software or hospitality property management software, a plus
