Patient Access Specialist Job Summary
Our clinic is currently seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will check in existing patients and verify their information, and update information in our system if necessary. You will also register new patients and assist with insurance verification. In addition to these tasks, you will collect co-pays and pull charts for upcoming appointments at least one day in advance. Applicants must have an associate degree or administrative experience working in a medical office, although we prefer candidates who have both qualifications.
Patient Access Specialist Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls
- Check-in existing patients and verify their information
- Register new patients
- Collect co-pays and other payments
- Schedule appointments
- Pull or request charts for upcoming appointments
- Assist with insurance authorizations and other tasks as needed
Patient Access Specialist Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Associate degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Medical office or administrative experience preferred (1-2 years)
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology a plus
- Computer proficiency
- Phone communication and customer service skills
